We are a people called to know and share God's love.

About Us

We Are United Methodist

One might ask the question , "What is a United Methodist?" In the words of John Wesley, whose ministry gave birth to the Methodist movement, a United Methodist is "one loving the Lord your God with your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength."

The United Methodist church today still embodies the values and concerns of the person whose life and ministry is at its heart. John Wesley’s life and teaching still carry a special meaning for United Methodists today. Our goal is being faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Our example is to share God through missions. We are concerned with the social problems in our midst. We do believe in the grace and forgiveness of God’s love. And we are open to ecumenism.

The sacraments we celebrate are Baptism and Holy Communion. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month during Sunday Worship.

Currently the United Methodist Church is involved in an effort to let people know about our denomination. The theme of the campaign says that we are a people with Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors. We believe this will be your experience of the Rice Lake United Methodist Church. Welcome!

Our History

We are at our third location in Rice Lake. In 1871 the congregation began with a building located on Douglas Street. This church building was moved to Messenger Street and improved over the years. Our present facility on Wesley Drive was built in 1971 and expanded in 1984.

We are a congregation of about 300 members yoked with the Canton United Methodist Church and served by the same pastor.

From our earliest beginnings we have always been a part of the United Methodist Church or its predecessor denominations.

In our congregation you will find a broad cross section of the people that make up the community of Rice Lake.
